Mallika Shakya is Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at South Asian University, New Delhi, where she also serves as Editor-in-Charge of Society and Culture in South Asia (Sage). Trained at the London School of Economics, the University of Oxford, and the University of Glasgow, she works on two distinct themes: the social embedding of industrialisation and labour movements, and poetic imaginations of nation and border in South Asia. She is the author of Death of an Industry: The Cultural Politics of Garment Manufacturing during the Maoist Revolution in Nepal (Cambridge University Press, 2018).
