Camille Buat is a historian of modern South Asia, specialising in the social and political history of twentieth-century north India. She completed her PhD in 2022 from Sciences Po, Paris and the Centre for Modern Indian Studies, University of Göttingen. Her research focuses on labour, migration, and citizenship in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, drawing on government archives, life histories, and literary sources in Bhojpuri. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at CeMIS, Göttingen.
